This I Believe

There are words that I would use to describe what I believe in. Honesty, a strong work ethic, and having a loving family are a few things I live by. Also I believe in laughter, procrastination, and to treat other as you would want to be treated.
Honesty is something I was taught as a very young child. I was raised in a Christian home and many or the morals that I live by today was embedded in me very early in life. For as long as I can remember my parents have always said, “Honesty is policy.” One of the reasons that being honest is so important is because it is a true testament to one’s character. Anyone can lie, but not everyone can own up to the truth.
I believe that having a loving family is a huge priority in life. If it were not for the loving support of my family I would not be half the person that I am today. My definition of family is people that will never let me down, will always be there for me, and will always love me. I am very close to my family, and I am thankful for that. My mother’s love and concern lets me know that she is always there for me. My father’s never yielding support makes me always shoot for my dreams. The fellowship and the time spent with my sister, Rachel, is very special to me.
I believe in working hard for what I want in life. My strong work ethic started the summer of my eighth grade year, working as a lifeguard. I worked thirty to forty hours a week throughout the summer. When other kids were relaxing by the pool, I was working instead. My first job taught me that having a strong work ethic would make me a better woman.
I believe in laughter and having a good time. Laughing is one of the best things in life. I love acting goofy and laughing with my family and friends. Life can get so serious with the everyday strains and stresses, but I make it a point to relax and have a good time. Laughter keeps me young and energized. Some of the best times in my life have been staying up late with my sister, or friends, and laughing about nothing.
I believe that you should treat others as you would want to be treated. The way a person treats his fellow man says a lot about his character. Everyone deserves the same amount of respect. The way my family has raised me will help guide the way I conduct myself and treat other people throughout life.
